Questions About Entries and Tickets
Q: Can I enter a drawing more than one time?
A: YES! You may enter a drawing as many times as you wish. However, tickets can only be entered once, and each additional entry requires the use of a separate qualified ticket.
Q: What happens to the ticket entries that do not get selected in a drawing? Are they retained for future drawings?
A: Promotions may vary, so be sure to check the rules for each specific promotion for a definite answer.
Q: How can I be sure that my Internet entry has been submitted?
A: When you submit your entry, a record of it shows up on the bottom of your SUBMIT ENTRY page. If the entry is recorded there, you can be assured that it is in the system.
Q: Can I throw away the ticket after I have entered it into a drawing?
A: No, that's the last thing you want to do! Hang on to tickets that you have entered and keep them safe. If you are selected as a winner in a drawing, you must present the ticket to the Lottery in order to claim your prize. No prize will be awarded without the valid entry ticket. There are no exceptions.
Q: Can I mail in my entries?
A: No. Only Internet entries are allowed. Remember, you must hold onto your ticket in order to claim a prize.
Q: What should I do if I encounter a problem at the Second Chance web site?
A: Please go to the FEEDBACK page to let us know what problem you are experiencing. We will assist you via return e-mail. The more details you can provide about your problem, the better chance we will have of quickly resolving the problem.
Q: I tried to submit an entry and got a message that the ticket has already been entered. How can that be if I have the ticket in my hand, and what should I do?
A: As to how it can happen, occasionally players will inadvertently make a typing error when submitting their entry, and won't double-check to make sure the number they entered is the same as the number on their ticket. As to what to do, first check your list of previously submitted entries at the bottom of the page where you submit your entries to make sure that the ticket has not already been entered by you. If it is not on your list of entries, use the FEEDBACK page e-mail to notify us as soon as possible. Please include any ticket number for which you received the "already been entered" message along with your full name, email address and telephone number, and we will advise you of the next steps so that you can place your entry.
Q: I made a typing mistake when I submitted my entry. How do I check for and correct entry errors?
A: If you make an error while typing and enter the incorrect ticket serial number, view your entries at the bottom of the entry page to find the invalid entry. Use the Delete link to remove the entry, and then re-enter the correct ticket serial number.
Questions About Winners
Q: What are my chances of winning a prize in a Second Chance Drawing?
A: Your odds of winning will vary, based on the total number of entries that are received for a drawing, as well as the total number of entries that you have submitted.
Q: What happens if I win?
A: Winners will be contacted by the Rhode Island Lottery. Please keep your contact information updated as winners will be contacted by telephone and/or e-mail.
Q: How do I find out if I have been selected as a winner?
A: The Rhode Island Lottery will make the initial contact with the selected winners via phone and/or e-mail. Winners' names and hometowns are posted on the Second Chance web site following the notification and validation of winners. Please note that the Rhode Island Lottery reserves the right to qualify winners at the time of the draw and select alternate entries if necessary.
Q: Where is the WINNERS’ LIST from the last drawing?
A: The Rhode Island Lottery confirms drawing results and contacts each winner by telephone and/or e-mail. This process can sometimes take up to a week or more to contact each winner and verify the validation procedures with the winner. Once all winners are contacted and confirmation received that he/she has the original entry ticket, and no alternate winners need to be selected, the Winners’ List is then posted.
Q: How are the Second Chance winners selected?
A: Winners are randomly selected by computer from all Internet entries received for each drawing. The drawing procedures are audited and approved by an independent Certified Public Accounting firm.
Q: When will I receive my Second Chance drawing prize?
A: The Rhode Island Lottery will make the initial contact with the winners and will provide instructions on how to claim their prize at Rhode Island Lottery Headquarters. Winners will need their original entry ticket and valid photo I.D.
