$800,000 and $10,000 PowerBall® Winners

June 2, 2008  Saturday night’s $34.1 million PowerBall® jackpot may have been hit in Louisiana, but Rhode Island had some big winners of its own.  There was an $800,000 and a $10,000 winning ticket sold in Rhode Island for the May 31st drawing.

A Fall River man claimed the $800,000 ticket this morning.  The ticket had matched all five numbers, but not the PowerBall® number, winning the standard payout of $200,000.  This player also purchased the PowerPlay® feature for an extra dollar on the wager and multiplied the winning prize by four, Saturday night’s PowerPlay® number, increasing the winnings to $800,000.  With his mortgage paid off and no big bills to worry about, the possibilities for his winnings are endless. 

The $800,000 winning ticket was sold from Stateline Tobacco at 29 Stafford Rd., Tiverton.  This store sold a $200,000 winning ticket in the May 21st PowerBall® drawing.   

The $10,000 winning ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number.  That winner did not play PowerPlay®.  Tavares News on High Street in Pawtucket sold the $10,000 winning ticket. 

Wednesday’s estimated jackpot is at $15 million.
