Rhode Island Lottery Receives Highest Governmental Recognition
The Rhode Island Lottery, the state’s third largest source of revenue, was recognized by an independent auditing association for maintaining its high standards in accounting and financial reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded to the Rhode Island Lottery by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2007.
After being reviewed by an impartial panel of auditing professionals, the Rhode Island Lottery earned the award for demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate the public and others to use the report for research and other uses.
In addition to the business and operational components, the CAFR contains interesting historical lottery information, as well as future objectives to better serve the Rhode Island community.
The Rhode Island Lottery has achieved the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting recognition consistently each year since 1997.
The Rhode Island Lottery CAFR is available at Lottery Headquarters, 1425 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI or at http://www.rilot.com/docs/financial/CAFR-Report-FY-2007.pdf.
