$300,000 & $18,000 Keno Plus Winners in One Day
$50,000 "Super Crossword" Instant Ticket Winner
Rhode Island Lottery players are on a big winning streak, beginning with a Keno Plus winner who walked away with $300,000! He was getting a cup of coffee yesterday at Sunny Hill Farm Convenience Store, 780 Hartford Ave., Johnston, when he decided to play a quick 10-spot Keno Plus game, wagering $1 and adding Keno Plus for an extra $1. His base win was $100,000, but the 3X multiplier was drawn, so his winnings were tripled to equal $300,000. The winner, who is from Providence, said he was going to put his winnings right in the bank. He thought he had just won $1,200 and was shocked to find out how much he really had won. He said he lived in southern California for 20 years but moved back to Rhode Island to be closer to his family, who will now have a nice Christmas this year. As he left Rhode Island Lottery Headquarters, the humble man exclaimed, "Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and God Bless America".
Another player had some luck playing Keno Plus last night, winning $18,000. A woman from Warwick purchased two tickets at Retro A Tobacco Bar, 2323 Warwick Ave., Warwick wagering $1 on 7 spots and adding Keno Plus for an extra $1. She would have won a total of $9,000. However, since she added Keno Plus and the 2X multiplier was drawn, her winnings were doubled to equal $18,000. She found out how much she had won at Picasso's Pizza in Warwick and bought the bar a round of drinks. Thankfully, there were only 10 people there, she joked. She plans to pay bills and buy Christmas gifts.
A woman from Westerly is equally grateful for winning $50,000 on the "Super Crossword" Instant Ticket. She said it was a "Christmas miracle" and will put the money in the bank and give some to her daughter for Christmas gifts for her children. She purchased the winning ticket at Cumberland Farms, 69 Friendship St., Westerly.
