PowerBall® and Instant Ticket Winners Monopoly™ Board Collector Wins Big on Instant Game & Winning PowerBall® Ticket Is Saved from the Shredder
Joe O’Clair, Attleboro, MA, scratched his way to $11,000 playing the Monopoly™ Instant Game from the Rhode Island Lottery.
O’Clair has been collecting Monopoly™ board games for years and couldn’t be happier to have won $11,000 on an instant ticket based on his favorite game. He also just purchased a new bike and said he’ll be putting his winnings towards that. The winning ticket was bought from Gold Mart at 1531 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. The $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket sold in Rhode Island for the November 17, 2007, PowerBall® drawing has been claimed.
The winner, from Lincoln, RI, was all smiles when he came in to the Lottery’s Validations office this afternoon. He was going through old papers with his son and shredding what he no longer needed when he found this 8 ½-month-old ticket. Luckily, they decided to check the old PowerBall® ticket before putting it through the shredder, only to learn it was a $10,000 winner! The winner plans to spend the winnings on his great grandchildren.
The winning ticket was purchased from Mac’s Liquor Mart at 200 Pleasant View Ave., Smithfield. It matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, for a $10,000 prize. The winner did not purchase the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If he had, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by three, that draw’s Power Play® number, increasing the prize to $30,000.
Wednesday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $62 million.
