Two $1 Million PowerBall® Tickets Claimed by Fall River Man
$17,604 Midday & $10,000 Evening Daily Numbers Winners
The two $1 million PowerBall® tickets from the October 15 drawing have been claimed by a man from Fall River. He's been playing the same PowerBall® numbers, 5, 7, 19, 27 and 28, for the past couple of years for no particular reason. He purchased both tickets from Atlantic Sports Bar, 70 Shove St., Tiverton. The owner of Atlantic Sports Bar actually texted the winner to tell him he thought he had won, but the Fall River man was in disbelief. A few days later, he checked his tickets and saw that it was indeed true! He said he was hungry before he checked his tickets, and then lost his appetite after. He intends to make a lot of people happy.
The $1,000,000 tickets matched five numbers but not the PowerBall® number, for the standard payout of $1,000,000. However, if the PowerPlay® feature was added for an extra dollar, the $1,000,000 prizes would have been multiplied by two, the Power Play® number drawn, to equal $2,000,000.
Two Daily Numbers winners also cashed in on yesterday's Midday and Evening Draws. A woman from West Warwick won $17,604 on the Midday drawing playing numbers 2, 7, 5, 8, her mother's lucky numbers. She played three $1 straight tickets and one $.50 straight ticket at Lakewood Liquors, Inc., 774 Warwick Ave., Warwick. She plans to pay bills and maybe take a vacation.
Additionally, a man from Cranston won $10,000 on yesterday's Evening Draw playing his lucky numbers 2, 6, 2, 6. He watched the drawing live on WPRI-12. He's never won that much before and plans to save the money in the bank. Rite Aid, 1011 Cranston St., Cranston, sold the winning ticket.
Tonight's estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $110 million.
