Tonight’s the Night: MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB™ Lottery Game Off to a Running Start
Rhode Island's newest multi-state lottery game has gotten off to a strong start!
The first drawing is tonight at 11:15 p.m. Eastern for $15 million and if that Top Prize is won, an additional 10 players will win $1 million each.
The deadline to purchase tickets in Rhode Island is 9:50 p.m.
- The MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB lottery game debuted Sunday, Oct. 19.
- Twenty-three U.S. lotteries are currently selling the game, which is expected to award more simultaneous million-dollar prizes than any game in lottery history.
- Each ticket offers three ways to become a millionaire with a chance to win:
- $15 million to $25 million in the weekly lottery drawing, conducted every Friday night;
- $1 million Club prizes in a separate drawing triggered when the game’s Top Prize is won;
- Up to $1 million on a nationally televised game show hosted by Billy Gardell of “Mike & Molly” that debuts in February 2015.
How to buy and play the MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB lottery game
In Rhode Island, players can purchase the new game wherever Rhode Island Lottery tickets, including Powerball and Mega Millions, are sold. Tickets cost $5 per play and wannabe millionaires can ask for the ticket by name at the check-out counter or service desk to purchase a terminal-generated “quick pick.”
Players who wish to play their own numbers may fill out a play slip and choose five numbers from a pool of 52. After the first five numbers have been selected, the lottery terminal will automatically pick an additional number from 1 to 28 that also will represent a Property on the MONOPOLY game board. Players will not be able to choose this number on their own; it will always be generated by the terminal.
Prizes from $5 to $15 million up for grabs in tonight’s drawing
The Top Prize in the game’s weekly drawing will start at $15 million and can roll without being won only three times to a maximum of $25 million. After that, the Top Prize will remain capped at $25 million until it is won, and the rest of the money that would have helped The Top Prize grow will instead be used to create more and more $1 million Club winners. There will be at least 10 $1 million Club winners each time the Top Prize is won, and it’s anticipated there could be dozens or more, based on sales.
The game also offers the chance to win smaller prizes ranging from $5 (for matching just two of the first five numbers) up to $100,000 (for matching the first five numbers). The odds of winning the game’s Top Prize are about 1 in 73 million.
In addition to the six lotto-drawing numbers, each ticket in the game will automatically have a unique “Millionaires’ Club” number printed on it. That number will be the player’s entry into the drawing triggered when the Top Prize is won and matching it to one of the Millionaires’ Club numbers drawn will earn a player a $1 million prize.
National game show premieres in February – start collecting entries now!
A webcode will be printed at the bottom of each MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES' CLUB lottery ticket. Players can visit playmmc.com to enter their webcode to collect the Property printed on their lottery ticket. Every time a player purchases a new lottery ticket and registers it into their account, new Properties will be collected. Once a player forms a complete Property Set, he or she will earn a drawing entry for a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas and the chance to be a contestant on the national TV game show. Thousands of players selected to attend tapings will win a five-day, four-night trip for two to Las Vegas to join the show's studio audience.
Five studio audience members will be selected at random to compete in each episode, in which contestants will play a series of games with a MONOPOLY brand theme for prizes up to $100,000. A final round will offer one player on each episode a shot at $1 million.
Additionally, local games will feature at least one contestant from the state into which the show is broadcast.
Comedian and actor Billy Gardell (“Mike & Molly”) has been tapped to host the game’s companion game show, which debuts in February 2015.
