Three $10,000 Winning PowerBall® Tickets Claimed by Groups First $250,000 Quarter of a Mil Instant Game Winner
Both of the $10,000 winning PowerBall® tickets sold in Rhode Island for the $156.7 million PowerBall® drawing on September 20 have been claimed.
A group of three family members claimed their $10,000 prize. They almost forgot to buy their ticket for the September 20th drawing, but remembered last minute. After the big win, they decided that the family member that purchased the winning ticket is good luck and should buy all of their tickets from this point on. The winning ticket was purchased at Shop ‘N’ Go, 1569 Plainfield Pike, Johnston. A smaller group of two came in to the Lottery Validations office to claim the other $10,000 prize from that drawing. They purchased their ticket from Super Mart at 747 Main Street in Warren. The group wins continued when a group of ten claimed the $10,000 PowerBall® prize from the September 24 drawing for $177.2 million. The ten winners all work together and came to the Lottery Headquarters to validate their tickets on their break. They have been playing together for years and actually won $5,000 a few years ago before the PowerBall® prize matrix was changed. They bought their winning ticket from Sports Tap on Harris Avenue in Providence. All three winning tickets matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number for a $10,000 prize. None of the groups purchased the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If they had, the $10,000 prizes would have been multiplied by five, the Power Play® number for both draws, increasing the prizes to $50,000. The group of ten said they are definitely going to start playing PowerPlay now. Saturday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $200 million.
A $250,000 prize from the Quarter of Mil Instant game was finally claimed by a very thankful North Kingstown woman. She bought her ticket from Jamestown Mobil, 35 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. There is still one $250,000, two $50,000, and two $10,000 prizes left unclaimed for that game!
