Weekend Keno and Mega Millions® Wins
Two Warwick friends won $22,500 playing Keno this weekend. The men said they always play their last Keno game of the night together, which is exactly what they did Friday night while at the Greenwood Inn, 1350 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick. They placed a $5 wager on a seven spot Keno game using the birthdates of one of the winners' three sons, a favorite lucky number, and then three random numbers. All seven numbers came up, winning $22,500, and prompting the winners to high five and hug everyone in the bar. The fun didn't stop that night. When the two came to the Lottery today, the man holding the winning ticket decided to prank his friend by first giving Validations staff a non-winning ticket so he could see his friend's reaction when they said the ticket was not a winner. After the joking was over and the correct ticket was validated, the two split the winnings equally, and said plans for the money include a vacation and paying off student loans.
A Cumberland Mega Millions® player also had a good weekend after winning $20,000 in Friday night’s drawing. The ticket matched four numbers and the Mega Ball number. The standard payout for this type of win is $5,000, but the winner added the Megaplier® feature to his wager for an extra dollar, multiplying his prize by four, Friday's Megaplier® number, to equal $20,000. He told Lottery staff, "You'd have to be crazy not to pay an extra dollar to increase your money." The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Ocean State Mobil, 1282 Elmwood Ave., Cranston.
Tomorrow's estimated Mega Millions® jackpot is $59 million.
