$10,000 PowerBall® Ticket from August Claimed Thanks to Grandfather
$56,026 Wild Money Jackpot Ticket Claimed
The $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket from the August 23 drawing has been claimed by a Coventry woman. The winner said she bought the ticket last summer, but then left for college and forgot all about it. When she returned home last week, her grandfather reminded her that she bought a ticket last year and recommended she check it before it's too late. She said the money will go towards paying for college.
Cumberland Farms, Route 1A, Charlestown, sold the winning ticket, which matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number. The standard payout for this type of win is $10,000. She did not purchase the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If she had opted for Power Play®, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by 3, the Power Play® number for that drawing, to equal $30,000.
A Wild Money ticket from the April 2 drawing was also claimed today. A North Providence man cashed in his ticket that matched all five numbers to win the $56,026 Wild Money jackpot. He purchased the ticket from Cumberland Farms, 2064 Smith St., North Providence, and said he'll use the money to pay bills.
