Five Rhode Island Lottery Players Starting 2017 with a Big Win

A Warwick man claimed the $50,000 PowerBall® ticket sold in Rhode Island for the December 28th drawing. His winning ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number to win $50,000. He did not purchase the PowerPlay® feature, which would have multiplied the prize by two, the PowerPlay® number for that draw, and increased his prize to $100,000. He said he was over his friend's house the night of the drawing. In disbelief, he double checked his ticket and asked his friend to verify his win. He planned to surprise his wife with the news. Cumberland Farms, 3323 South County Trail, East Greenwich, sold the winning ticket.

Wednesday's estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $80 million.

A North Smithfield man claimed a $35,000 "Happy Holidays" Instant Ticket top prize. Each day on his lunch break, the winner purchases a soda or coffee from the same Rhode Island Lottery Retailer. Using the change from his most recent purchase, he asked the clerk for two $5 "Holiday Winnings" Instant Tickets. He scratched them both and hit the top prize on the second ticket! He does not have any immediate plans for the money won. Washington Hill Liquors, 616 Washington Hwy., Lincoln, sold the winning ticket.

A Riverside man claimed a $20,000 "$1,000,000 Scratch" Instant Ticket prize. He plans to use the money won towards a vacation with his wife in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. Sonny's Convenience, 548 Willet Ave., East Providence, sold the winning ticket.

A Warwick woman claimed a $24,000 Keno Plus win. She wagered $2 on a nine spot Keno game and doubled the price of her wager by adding the Keno Plus feature. She matched eight spots to win the standard prize of $6,000, but because she played the Keno Plus feature, her prize was multiplied by four, the Keno Plus number for that drawing, to win $24,000! She plans to put her winnings in the bank. Yorktown Market, 6769 Post Rd., North Kingstown, sold the winning ticket.

A Warwick man claimed a $10,250 Keno Plus win. He wagered $5 on a five spot Keno game and doubled the price of his wager by adding the Keno Plus feature. He matched all five spots to win the standard prize of $2,050, but because he played the Keno Plus feature, his prize was multiplied by five, the Keno Plus number for that drawing, to win $10,250! He plans to put his winnings towards a trip to Georgia to visit his new granddaughter. Warwick Shell, 2211 West Shore Rd., Warwick, sold the winning ticket.
