Group of forty-two fortunate coworkers claim $1 Million powerball® prize
A group of forty-two employees from Taco Inc., Fall River, Massachusetts, claimed the $1,000,000 winning Powerball® ticket sold in Rhode Island for Wednesday night's draw. Their winning ticket matched all five numbers but not the PowerBall® number to win $1,000,000. The Powerball® Group Play Captain purchased the winning ticket at Darlington Liquors, 346 Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket, where he has been purchasing tickets on behalf of the group for about eighteen years. He said whenever the PowerBall® jackpot amount gets high, he and his coworkers pool their money together in hopes to someday win big, and that day has finally come. The coworkers shared that everyone was so overwhelmed when they checked the ticket in the office and learned that they won; they jumped up and down, and some even cried. The Group Captain recounted that he almost passed out. He has been working with some of his coworkers for almost thirty years, and said they're the hardest working people he knows. "I'm not happy that I won, I'm happy that we won," he explained. Each of the forty-two coworkers were issued a check for $16,430.95 after taxes were withheld. The Group Captain was excited to get back to work to hand out all of the checks. He also joked, "I'll be back. I already purchased a group ticket for Saturday's $435 million PowerBall® jackpot draw, and I think we'll probably hit the jackpot on that one." He plans to put his winnings towards his two daughters' college education, and the coworker who accompanied him said she also plans to put her winnings towards her daughter's college fund. As for the rest of the group, some plan to pay bills, others plan to go on vacation, and a few plan to make renovations to their homes.
