$10,000 Winning PowerBall® Ticket Claimed
The $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket sold in Rhode Island for the $147.3 million PowerBall® drawing on January 14 has been claimed.
The Somerset, Mass., resident came in to the Lottery to claim his winning quick pick ticket today. At first he thought he had just won $100, but after he heard on the news there was a $10,000 winning ticket, he thought he’d better check again. When asked what his plans were for the money, joked that his wife already had their winnings spent and he might get a tank of gas out of it. The winning ticket was purchased from Stateline Tobacco, 29 Stafford Rd., Tiverton. The ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, for a $10,000 prize. The winner did not purchase the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If he had, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by five, Wednesday’s Power Play® number, increasing the prize to $50,000. The winner now swears to always play Power Play® so he doesn’t miss out again. Saturday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $165 million.
