$40,000 Winning PowerBall® Ticket Claimed Plus $10,000 Instant Game Win
The $40,000 winning PowerBall® Power Play® ticket sold in Rhode Island for the $25.6 million PowerBall® drawing on August 13, 2008, has been claimed. A West Warwick, RI, woman came in this afternoon to pick up her $40,000 in winnings. She said she planned on putting the money in the bank. Her ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, for a $10,000 prize. She also selected the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager so her $10,000 prize was multiplied by four, the Power Play® number for that draw, increasing the prize to $40,000. The winning ticket was purchased at Rite Aid, 1155 Main St., West Warwick. There was also a Woonsocket man that came in with his family this morning to claim a $10,000 winning Double Bonus Bingo Instant Ticket. He had never played the instant game before, and got this ticket as a gift. JB Liquors on Social Street in Woonsocket sold the winning ticket.
