$20,000 PowerBall® PowerPlay® Winner Plus High Tier Prizes Claimed for PowerBall® and Daily Numbers
Rhode Island had a $20,000 PowerBall® PowerPlay® winner in last night’s $81 million jackpot drawing. The ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, winning the standard payout of $10,000. This player also purchased the PowerPlay® feature for an additional dollar on the wager, which multiplied the winnings by two, last night’s PowerPlay® number, to equal $20,000. North Main Shell at 691 North Main St., Providence, sold the winning ticket, which has yet to be claimed. Saturday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $94 million.
Although that prize hasn’t been claimed, two $10,000 PowerBall® winners from previous drawings have come forward. A man from Newton, Mass., claimed his ticket from the February 28 drawing. He always plays with his friend so he said he won’t be keeping all the winnings; he’s going to have to split it in half. They had bought their ticket from Diamond Hill Convenience at 2275 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland.
A Fairhaven, Mass., woman claimed the $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket from a drawing on March 14. She said she saw there was a $10,000 winner on the news, but thought she had only won $100. She brought the ticket to one store to cash it, but they told her she had to come to the Lottery to claim her prize. She still didn’t believe that she was a big winner, so she went to another retailer and after they said the same thing, she figured she must have won the $10,000. The winning ticket was sold from Heritage Liquors on Reservoir Avenue in Cranston.
In addition to the PowerBall® winners, there was also a $25,000 Daily Numbers winner from Cranston. She played 5 $1 straight bets that won $5,000 each for the drawing on March 24. The winning number combination was 5 2 2 1 which was a number her grandfather always played, and then after he died, she and her father started playing the number. She bought her winning ticket from Capital Liquors on Park Ave. in Cranston.
