Winners, Winners, Winners Big Prizes Claimed for Keno Free Ride, PowerBall®, and Daily Numbers
The Lottery’s Validations office was non-stop all day on Friday, right up until the doors locked for the weekend. There were five prizes worth $10,000 or higher claimed that day alone.
Keno Free Ride A record-high Keno Free Ride jackpot, worth $27,161, was hit and claimed Friday by a man from Rumford, RI. The winner plans to use the money to go on a vacation and do some home improvements. He bought the winning ticket from Tavares News on High Street in Pawtucket.
PowerBall® PowerBall® brought in some big winners as well. The $20,000 PowerBall® PowerPlay® winning ticket from Wednesday’s drawing was claimed by a Providence woman. She said she thought she was dreaming when the store told her she won and was glad she played PowerPlay®. Her ticket matched 4 numbers and the PowerBall® number for a standard payout of $10,000. The prize was doubled because she purchased PowerPlay® for an additional dollar on the wager and the PowerPlay® number selected was a two. North Main Shell at 691 North Main St., Providence, sold her the winning ticket. In addition, the $10,000 PowerBall® winner from October 4, 2008, came forward to claim his prize. The South Kingstown man said he waited to claim it until after he spoke with his accountant. He hasn’t decided what he’ll do with the winnings, but is thinking about new “garage” projects he could work on or maybe investing it. The winning ticket was purchased from Mobil Food Mart on Kingstown Road in Peacedale. There was also a $10,000 PowerBall® prize from October 15, 2008, that was claimed by a man from South Dartmouth, MA. He plans to use the money for remodeling his bathroom. Colbea Enterprises on Benefit Street in Providence sold the winning ticket. Wednesday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $109 million.
Daily Numbers A North Providence woman came in today as well to cash in $20,000 worth of Daily Numbers tickets. She played 4 separate tickets, all $1 wagers on a 4-digit straight bet, winning $5,000 each. She picked the winning number, 7 2 3 2, because it’s her anniversary. She bought the winning tickets from North Providence Food Mart at 1370 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence.
