$225,000 Keno Plus Winner
David LaBreche, Cumberland, RI, claimed a $225,000 winning Keno Plus ticket and plans to use the money for his children’s college education.
LaBreche had stopped to get gas on his way out of town with his family when he decided to buy a couple of Keno tickets. He played one ticket with numbers based on birthdays and then bought another ticket that was a quick pick. He doubled his wagers on each of the tickets to play Keno Plus. As he watched the numbers come up, he recognized some from the ticket where he picked his own numbers and was really excited when he saw he won $250 on it. The clerk asked how the quick pick ticket did and LaBreche had to check the ticket a few times before he could believe he won $225,000. Filled with excitement, he immediately signed the back of the ticket and left the store, only to go a couple miles down the road before he realized he needed to go back because he forgot to get the gas.
He had played a five dollar wager on a seven spot bet and matched all seven numbers. The standard payout for this type of win is $22,500. However, this player opted to double his wager and purchase Keno Plus, so the $22,500 prize was multiplied by ten, that draw’s Keno Plus number, to equal $225,000.
The $225,000 winning ticket was purchased from Shell Food Mart at 3492 Mendon Rd., Cumberland.
