Wednesday’s PowerBall® Jackpot Estimated at $222 Million
A Rhode Island Lottery player could be a multi-millionaire after tomorrow night with the estimated PowerBall® jackpot at $222 million.
There have been twelve consecutive draws without a jackpot winner since the current run started on April 11, 2009. If the jackpot gets hit tomorrow night and the winner chooses the annuity option, the $222 million jackpot would be paid over 29 years in 30 installments. If the winner chooses the cash option, the lump sum payment is estimated at $113 million. All players should sign the back of their tickets immediately upon purchase so no one else can wrongfully claim their prize. In addition to the rapidly growing jackpot, the subsidiary prizes, ranging up to $200,000, have many players opting for the Power Play® feature, which for an extra $1 per wager, can multiply the prize amount to up to $1,000,000. There was one $10,000 winner after Saturday night’s drawing in Rhode Island. That player matched 4 numbers and the PowerBall® number for the $10,000 standard prize. The player did not purchase PowerPlay® for an extra dollar on the wager. If he had, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by five, Saturday’s PowerPlay® number, to equal $50,000. Hess Express at 1112 Post Rd., Warwick, sold the winning ticket, which has not been claimed.
