$117,185 Winning Wild Money Ticket Claimed Two $10,000 PowerBall® Tickets
The $117,185 jackpot hit in last Tuesday’s Wild Money drawing was claimed yesterday morning by a very excited Johnston man.
The lucky winner bought his ticket from BD Mart at 1180 Atwood Ave., Johnston. He played all of his own numbers and said they each have a sentimental meaning to him. After joking he was going to Foxwoods at lunch today with his winnings, he told Lottery personnel that he plans to use the money on his children and that his wife has plans for it.
The Wild Money drawings take place three times a week: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights, live on WPRI-TV at 7:29pm. Tonight’s estimated jackpot is $24,000.
There were also two $10,000 PowerBall® winning tickets claimed as well. The first was by William Murchison, of Cranston, RI, who bought his ticket from Morin’s Liquor Store in Cranston. He had the ticket on his microwave for a few days before he realized how much he won. Murchison said all his bills are paid up, so he’s just going to have fun with the money.
Then, two employees of FM Global picked up a $10,000 prize for their group of 19 coworkers. The group has been playing together for about a year and purchased their winning ticket from Gold Mart in Pawtucket. Both winning PowerBall® tickets matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, winning the standard payout of $10,000. Neither winner purchased the PowerPlay® option for an extra dollar on their wagers. If they had played PowerPlay®, they would have won $20,000 or $50,000 respectively.
