PowerBall® Jackpot Reaches $193 Million and Rhode Islanders Are Cashing In
Saturday night’s estimated jackpot is at $193 million after no one hit in last night’s drawing. Although there were no jackpot winners, Rhode Island still had a $10,000 winning ticket sold from Cumberland Farms at 125 Broadway St., Newport. That ticket has not been claimed, but one $200,000 PowerBall® ticket and two $10,000 tickets from previous drawings were claimed.
The $200,000 winning ticket from Saturday’s drawing matched all five numbers, but not the PowerBall® number. A Pawtucket man claimed the prize after buying the ticket from Blackstone Wine & Spirits on Central Avenue in Pawtucket. He did not play PowerPlay® for an extra dollar on his wager. If he had, his $200,000 prize would have automatically been multiplied by five, winning $1,000,000!
There were also two $10,000 winning tickets claimed that both matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number. These tickets were for the drawings on September 2 and September 26. Neither player opted to purchase the PowerPlay® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If they had, their $10,000 prizes would have been $30,000 or $40,000, based on the PowerPlay® number from the night of the drawing.
A Saunderstown man claimed the $10,000 prize from the September 2 drawing. He bought that ticket from Sunnybrook Farms on Main Street in East Greenwich. The $10,000 prize from this past Saturday’s drawing was claimed by a Cranston woman. She purchased her ticket from E Z Mart on Money Hill Road in Chepachet.
