Group of 10 Claims $10,000 Winning PowerBall® Ticket Winner Cashes in 40 $500 Winning Daily Numbers Tickets
The $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket sold in Rhode Island for Wednesday night’s drawing has been claimed. A group of ten employees from the Newport Housing Authority claimed their $10,000 prize. The employees have been pooling their money together for ten years, and when one of the women retired, she luckily handed in her money to the group captain for the next year so she wouldn’t miss out if they won big. The winning ticket was purchased at Cumberland Farms, 125 Broadway, Newport.
The ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, for a $10,000 prize. The group did not purchase the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If they had, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by three, Wednesday’s Power Play® number, increasing the prize to $30,000.
A North Providence woman also claimed a $10,000 PowerBall® prize. Her ticket was from the September 23 drawing and if she had played PowerPlay® for the extra dollar, she would have won $50,000. North Providence Food Mart on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence sold her the winning ticket.
Saturday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $193 million.
Furthermore, a man from Glocester, RI, claimed 40 separate $500 winning Daily Numbers tickets from yesterday’s drawing, totaling $20,000. Each ticket was a one dollar wager on a 3-digit straight bet. He purchased his tickets from Smithfield Exxon at 471 Putnam Pike, Greenville, and his winning number was 1 5 1.
