$10,000 PowerBall® Prize Won With Free Ticket
The $10,000 winning ticket from the March 6 PowerBall® drawing was claimed today. The winning ticket was actually a free ticket that Kevin Reph of Warwick received when he purchased a five dollar Mega Millions® ticket during the Rhode Island Lottery’s Mega Power Madness promotion. He said he was pumping gas at Sam’s Food Store in North Smithfield when he saw the sign about the promotion and decided to buy the Mega Millions® ticket. He realized he was a winner this week when he read the numbers off the computer while his son circled them. He could see his son circling the numbers and thought he was playing a joke on him. Reph took the ticket back to confirm that it matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, winning the standard payout of $10,000.
Saturday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $200 million.
