2 BIG Winners: Mega Millions® and PowerBall®
This past weekend was on fire (literally)! The temperature was hot and two Rhode Island winners took home thousands of dollars after the Mega Millions® and PowerBall® drawings.
A Cranston man didn’t wait long to cash in his $200,000 winning PowerBall® ticket this morning. After that big win, he seemed surprisingly calm and told the other winners in the lobby it’s because he’s too old to be jumping up and down.
The quick pick ticket matched five numbers, but not the PowerBall® number for the standard payout of $200,000. If he had played PowerPlay® for an extra dollar on his $1 wager, he would have won $1,000,000 automatically, regardless of what the PowerPlay® was. He bought his winning ticket from Kingston Convenience Mart in Kingston.
An East Providence woman was crying with excitement when she realized she won $40,000 playing Mega Millions® from Friday’s 12 Million dollar jackpot. She purchased the ticket at Phred’s Drug, Inc. in Cranston. Her son’s college tuition at the University of Rhode Island won’t be an issue any longer! She plans on taking her family on a nice vacation as well.
The ticket matched four numbers and the Mega Ball® number, for a $10,000 prize. She selected the Megaplier® feature for an additional dollar on the wager so her $10,000 prize was multiplied by four, Friday’s Mega Ball® number, increasing the prize to $40,000.
Tuesday’s estimated Mega Millions® jackpot is $16 Million and Wednesday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $27 Million. Play both this week!
