New Rhode Island Millionaire! Plus 1 $20,000 & 2 $10,000 PowerBall® Winning Tickets
Rhode Island has a new millionaire after Saturday night’s $79 million PowerBall® jackpot drawing. The Coventry man didn’t hit the big jackpot but did win $1,000,000. He used birthdates and his anniversary date to pick the winning numbers. Plus, for just $1 extra, he added the Power Play® feature to the base wager, which automatically multiplied the $200,000 prize by five to equal $1,000,000. Coventry Xtra Mart., 851 Tiogue Ave., Coventry, sold the winning $1,000,000 ticket.
This wasn’t the winner’s first time winning big by playing PowerPlay®. In 2006, he cashed in a $30,000 winning PowerBall® PowerPlay® ticket. The winner said his wife’s been sick for quite some time, so the money will go towards getting the help he needs to care for her.
There were three other winners in Saturday night’s drawing as well. Each of the three winning tickets matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number for the standard payout of $10,000. One of the players opted for the Power Play® feature, so when the 2 multiplier came up, his $10,000 prize turned into $20,000. None of these prizes have been claimed.
