Veteran’s Day Surprise
87-year-old Veteran wins $40,000 on Mega Millions® just in time for Veteran’s Day.
The Coventry man came into the Lottery this afternoon with his son to claim the winning ticket. After being through so much in his lifetime, he had plenty of stories to regale lottery staff. He’s not sure what he’ll do with the money yet but said he’ll find something to do with it. His winning ticket matched four numbers and the Mega Ball number, for a standard payout of $10,000. He purchased the Megaplier® feature for an extra dollar on the wager, which multiplied the $10,000 prize by four, last night’s Megaplier® number, to equal $40,000.
Stop & Shop on Tiogue Avenue in Coventry sold the winning quick pick ticket.
Friday’s estimated jackpot is at $12 million.
