Million Dollar Raffle 2nd Chance Extravaganza Winner
Rebecca Nero of Smithfield, RI, won $5,000 at the Million Dollar Raffle 2nd Chance Extravaganza this past Friday night.
This year’s Million Dollar Raffle game didn’t end on New Year’s Eve when the winning number for the million dollars was announced. Players had a 2nd Chance to win extra prizes with the Rhode Island Lottery’s 2nd Chance Extravaganza. More than 65,000 non-winning 2010 Million Dollar Raffle tickets were mailed in or dropped off at the Lottery. These were placed in a drawing where 100 qualifiers were randomly picked to attend the event at Twin River on February 4. Each qualifier that came received a gift bag and throughout the night they had the chance to play games and win extra prizes.
The names of the 100 qualifiers were put in a drum to draw one winner to play the big game of the evening and win one of these four prize amounts: $5,000, $10,000, $100,000 or $1,000,000. Rebecca Nero of Smithfield was selected as the lucky player. There were 40 envelopes on a game board, each had one of those four prize amounts written on it. Nero picked the envelopes until she had 5 matching prize amounts. Whatever amount she matched first, was what she won. The first envelope she picked held $1,000,000, then other than picking one envelope with $10,000 in it, she selected four $100,000 and five $5,000 envelopes to win the 5 grand!
