Rhode Island’s $10,000 Winners
The unclaimed $10,000 PowerBall® and Mega Millions® winning tickets from last week have been claimed.
A Warwick woman came to the Lottery today to cash in her PowerBall® ticket from last Wednesday’s drawing. She buys all of her tickets from Shaw’s Supermarket on Chapel View Boulevard in Cranston, and there was no difference this time around. The winner was unknowingly walking around with the winning ticket until she went to Shaw’s again yesterday and checked it. The staff at Shaw’s were jumping with excitement when they realized she had a big prize coming her way, but the winner calmly continued her grocery shopping as if nothing happened. She explained that she’s a very simple person, who doesn’t wear any jewelry, not even her wedding band, and doesn’t live an extravagant life. She plans to put the money in the bank.
The Mega Millions® winner was from Central Falls. He was also quiet when he claimed his prize. The Shell Mini Mart on Broad Street in Central Falls sold that winning ticket.
The PowerBall® ticket matched four numbers, but not the PowerBall® number, winning $10,000. The Mega Millions® ticket matched four numbers, but not the Mega Ball number, which has a standard prize payout of $10,000. The winners did not purchase the PowerPlay® or Megaplier® features for an additional dollar on the wagers. If the PowerBall® winner had opted for PowerPlay®, the prize would have been multiplied by 2, the PowerPlay® number for that draw to equal $20,000. The Megaplier® number was a 4 on Friday night’s drawing, so that $10,000 prize would have been quadrupled to equal $40,000.
Tonight’s estimated Mega Millions® jackpot is $51 million and Wednesday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $36 million.
