1st $250,000 Mega Millions® Winner in Rhode Island
New Englanders are on a winning streak right now! First, the $25.6 million winning PowerBall® ticket was sold in Fall River, Mass., and then last night, there was a $250,000 Mega Millions® winning ticket sold in Johnston, RI!
The winning ticket matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball number, for a standard payout of $250,000. The player did not opt in to purchase the Megaplier® for an extra dollar on the wager. If he had, the $250,000 prize would have automatically become a $1,000,000 prize no matter what Megaplier® number was drawn. The prize has not been claimed.
MVC Enterprises at 1396 Hartford Ave., Johnston, sold the winning ticket.
Friday’s estimated jackpot is $53 million.
Furthermore, a $20,000 PowerBall® PowerPlay® ticket was claimed today from the May 25 drawing. The Coventry man waited until this week to check his tickets. He bought the winning ticket from Cumberland Farms at 302 North Main St., Slatersville, and plans to use the money to pay bills.
Tonight’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $25 million.
