$250,000 Mega Millions® Ticket Claimed
The young man from Providence, RI, who won $250,000 on Tuesday night’s Mega Millions® drawing didn’t wait long to claim his ticket.
The winner came into the Lottery this afternoon with his best friend. He handed the ticket to Lottery validations personnel and wasn’t quite sure how much he won, only to be shocked when they told him it was a quarter of a million dollars! He has no plans for extravagant purchases and is already thinking about using it to take care of his retirement, so he wants to invest the money now.
The winning ticket matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball number, for a standard payout of $250,000. The player did not opt in to purchase the Megaplier® for an extra dollar on the wager. If he had, the $250,000 prize would have automatically become a $1,000,000 prize no matter what Megaplier® number was drawn.
MVC Enterprises at 1396 Hartford Ave., Johnston, sold the winning ticket.
Friday’s estimated jackpot is $53 million.
