Red, White, Blue and Green
The Fourth of July weekend had some Rhode Islanders celebrating even more after they found out they’ve won big. A Warwick gentleman claimed $65,000 from the Shimmering 7’s Instant Ticket, a gift from his son for his anniversary. He’s been married for 45 years and plans to go to Atlantic City next week and Vegas next year.
Then, a Pawtucket gentleman won lots of green from Saturday night’s PowerBall® drawing. He just claimed $30,000 at the Lottery Headquarters. He opted to play Power Play® for an extra dollar on the wager, which multiplied the $10,000 prize by three, Saturday’s Power Play® number, to equal $30,000. The ticket was purchased at Dave’s Marketplace on Airport Road in Warwick.
Soon after, Chad Souza of Fall River came to the Lottery to claim his winnings from the weekend. He decided to purchase a Black Diamonds Instant Ticket from the Instant Ticket Vending Machine at Stop & Shop on Connell Highway in Newport. To his surprise, he won $20,000 and is still in shock. He plans to put it in the bank for now and use some towards a trip to Vegas.
Finally, a teacher, who was celebrating the end of the school year with some friends at Bradley Café in Providence, decided to play Keno Plus. She ended up winning $18,000 when she played a 7-spot and the 4 multiplier came up. She plans to take a vacation and also buy her new granddaughter or grandson some new things.
Wednesday’s estimated jackpot PowerBall® jackpot is $25 million.
