The $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket sold in Rhode Island for last Saturday’s PowerBall® drawing was claimed this morning by a gentleman from North Providence.
The winner was thrilled to be able to pay the rest of his son’s tuition at La Salle Academy and take his wife out to dinner with the rest. He purchased the winning ticket at Cumberland Farms on Smith Street in North Providence on his way to vacation in Narragansett. He’s been purchasing a PowerBall® ticket for 10 years before he leaves for vacation in hopes that he’ll never have to return to work.
The ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number for a $10,000 prize. The winner did not purchase the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If he had, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by three, the Power Play® number for that draw, increasing the prize to $30,000.
Tonight’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $48 million.
