$1 Million Dollar Ticket Claimed
The $1 million winning PowerBall® Power Play® ticket sold in Rhode Island for the $30 million PowerBall® drawing from last Saturday, September 24, has been claimed by a man from Richmond.
The winning ticket matched all five numbers except the PowerBall® number, winning the standard payout of $200,000, but because he wagered the extra $1 for the PowerPlay® option, he became a millionaire!
The Richmond gentleman decided to stop and purchase a Million Dollar Raffle Ticket today since the first early bird drawing for $5,000 is next Friday. He also figured he’d check his PowerBall® Ticket, and was very surprised (and confused) when it said go to the Rhode Island Lottery. He asked the clerk what that meant and they both checked his numbers: 3 4 12 27 44 – and confirmed he won $1 million! He was still in shock when he reached the Lottery headquarters. He’s been playing the same numbers for years and has never won anything before. He’s was very glad he played Power Play® and always chooses PowerBall® with PowerPlay® for 13 weeks so he never misses a draw.
Needless to say, he forgot to get his Million Dollar Raffle Ticket in the midst of all the excitement, but plans to pick one up as soon as he left the Lottery. After all, he could be on a roll! He might go on a vacation somewhere but will keep on working, although now he’ll be able to retire comfortably.
Hess Express at 1190 Main Rd., Richmond, sold the winning $1,000,000 ticket.
Saturday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $47 million. Tonight’s estimated Mega Millions® jackpot is $113 million.
