$40,000 Winning PowerBall® Ticket Claimed $15,000 “Crossword 30” Instant Ticket Winner
The $40,000 winning PowerBall® ticket sold in Rhode Island for Saturday’s drawing has been claimed. A Warwick woman claimed the $40,000 prize. She said her ticket had 3 sets of numbers on it: the numbers her husband plays, her numbers that she picked based on birthdays, and a quick pick number. It was her number that matched four out of five numbers and the PowerBall® number. Recently, she started adding PowerPlay® to her wagers for an extra dollar, which paid off when her prize was multiplied by four, Saturday’s Power Play® number, to equal $40,000.
The winner said she and her husband are both retired and want to move closer to their daughter in Connecticut, so this win will go towards a down payment on a house.
Mega Milk Mart at 1243 West Shore Rd., Warwick, sold the winning ticket. Wednesday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $173 million.
Additionally, William Bergeron of Woonsocket claimed $15,000 today from the “Crossword 30” Instant Ticket. He purchased the ticket at the Quick Mart on Mason Street in Woonsocket and plans to put the money in the bank for now.
