5 High Tier Prizes Claimed in 1 Day
The Lottery Validation's Office was packed with holiday winners yesterday. The Rhode Island Lottery paid out $310,714 in prizes to high tier winners in one day!
The first big winner was the $100,000 World Series of Poker Instant Ticket sold by Sam's Food Store on Post Road in Warwick.
Right after him was a Cumberland man cashing in his $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket from the Christmas Eve drawing. Cumberland Farms at 300 Mendon Rd., Cumberland, sold the winning ticket. Another $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket was claimed by a Cranston man. This big win was from the December 21st drawing. Park Avenue Gas Station in Cranston sold the winning ticket. Both tickets matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number for the standard payout of $10,000.
The $180,714 Wild Money jackpot winner came in yesterday as well. This ticket was sold from Club Juventude Lustiania on Chase Street in Cumberland for the December 20th drawing.
Last, but not least, one of the three $10,000 winning Mega Millions® tickets from December 23 was claimed by Edward Gelinas of Pawtucket. He said he'll use the money to pay for the Christmas gifts he bought for his 6 children and 14 grandchildren. The Li'l General on Central Avenue in Pawtucket sold the winning ticket.
