$40,000 PowerBall® Power Play® Winner in Rhode Island
$30,000 Keno & $10,000 Instant Ticket Wins
Since the PowerBall® game changed on January 15, the jackpot has climbed very quickly as expected. And after last night's $122.9 million drawing, Rhode Island had its first high-tier winner of $40,000 with the new game matrix.
The $40,000 winning ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, for a standard payout of $10,000. The winner opted to play Power Play® for an extra dollar on the wager. The Power Play® feature now offers fixed prize amounts for players, so the $10,000 prize became $40,000.
Stop & Shop on Stilson Road in Richmond sold the winning ticket. The prize has yet to be claimed.
Saturday’s estimated jackpot is at $146 million.
There was also a $30,000 winning Keno ticket that was cashed in this morning. The Warren man decided to play a $1 wager on a 9-spot game using the numbers 1-9. All of those numbers came up resulting in the $30,000 prize. He bought the winning ticket at Rod's Grille on Washington Street in Warren and will be putting the money in the bank.
A lucky Instant Ticket winner has also come forward. The "Cash Bonus" $10,000 top prize was won by a Pawtucket woman. She bought her ticket at the Rumford Market on Pawtucket Avenue in Rumford and aside from taking her daughter out to lunch, she plans to use the money to pay bills.
