Two $40,000 Winners in One Day

There was not one but two Rhode Island Lottery winners who claimed $40,000 yesterday.

A woman from Providence was still in shock when she came to claim her $40,000 from the Boston Red Sox® Instant Ticket™ 2nd Chance Drawing. She kept saying she was going to win it, and thinks she won because she believed it. She plans on using the money towards a new car, bills, a trip and a rainy day!

Shortly after, a gentleman from North Providence claimed $40,000 from last Friday's Mega Millions® drawing. He purchased the ticket at the Cumberland Farms on Waterman Avenue in Smithfield. It matched four numbers and the Mega Ball® number, for a $10,000 prize. He selected the Megaplier® feature for an additional dollar on the wager so his $10,000 prize was multiplied by four, Friday’s Mega Ball® number, increasing the prize to $40,000. He plans on getting a new car.

Tonight's estimated Mega Millions® jackpot is $32 million.
