Manic Monday
Monday's aren't so bad sometimes! Especially for Rhode Island Lottery players, who have been cashing in some big winning tickets! Saturday's PowerBall® drawing resulted in a $40,000 winning ticket sold from the Stop & Shop on Putnam Pike in Smithfield. The winner opted to purchase Power Play® for an additional dollar on the wager, which increased the $10,000 prize to $40,000. The ticket has yet to be claimed.
Additionally, three months after a lucky PowerBall® drawing, Penny Fiorenzano from North Providence claimed a $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket. She said this was the first opportunity she had to come in and collect her prize since the February 11 drawing. Joining her was her friend from work who called the day after the drawing to remind her to check her tickets. The winner said she and her husband are currently doing some home renovations, so the money will go towards that. She did not purchase the Power Play® feature. Stop & Shop at 1128 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence sold the winning ticket.
There were also 2 $20,000 winning Instant Tickets claimed this morning! A gentleman from Providence purchased a Slingo Gold Instant Ticket from Central Liquor on Broad Street, in Providence and won $20,000. He plans on using the money towards a plane ticket to go to the Dominican Republic to see his family he hasn't seen in 5 years.
Shortly after, a $20,000 Black Diamonds Instant Ticket winner came in to claim. William Bernard, of Warwick, purchased the winning ticket from yet another Stop & Shop! This time, it was from the Stop & Shop at 2470 Warwick Ave., Warwick. He plans on putting the money right in the bank and exclaimed, "The month of May has been very lucky for me."
Wednesday's estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $90 million.
