$40,000 Winning PowerBall® Ticket Claimed $40,000 "Silver & Gold" Instant Ticket winner
Two $40,000 prizes have been claimed in one day.
A man from Cumberland claimed the $40,000 winning PowerBall® ticket sold in Rhode Island from Saturday's drawing. The winning ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, for a standard payout of $10,000. The winner opted to play Power Play® for an extra dollar on the wager, turning his $10,000 prize into $40,000.
He plans to pay off bills and use towards college tuition. Cumberland Shell at 4120 Mendon Road in Cumberland sold the winning ticket.
An additional $40,000 prize has been claimed. A woman from North Providence won $40,000 from the "Silver & Gold" Instant Ticket. She plans to use it towards a down payment on a condo.
She purchased the winning ticket from Cherian Market at 1700 Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence. Two weeks ago, Cherian Market also sold a winning $20,000 "Lucky Times 20" Instant Ticket.
Wednesday's estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $158 million.
