Winners Galore! $50,000, $35,000 & $10,000 Instant Ticket Wins $22,500 Keno Plus & $10,000 PowerBall® Prize Claimed
A woman from North Kingstown just claimed a $50,000 "Fabulous Fortune" Instant Ticket. At first she thought she had only won five or ten dollars, so she was thrilled when she kept scratching the ticket to reveal a $50,000 prize. She said her daughter just bought a new car so she would like to pay it off for her. Engine Food Lane at 6155 Post Rd., North Kingstown sold the winning ticket.
A Johnston woman claimed a $35,000 winning "Fire & Ice" Instant Ticket today. Just days earlier someone told her she'd be coming into a windfall of money soon, and that prediction came true. She purchased the ticket from Cumberland Farms at 609 Killingly St., Johnston and plans to use the money to buy a new car.
Nancy Sosa, Providence, had a stroke of beginner's luck this week. She decided to play the Lottery for the second time in her life and bought a $1 "Baseball" Instant Ticket from Gemma's Market, 458 Cranston St., Providence. That $1 ticket turned into a $10,000 prize for Nancy. She said she's not sure how she'll spend the money, but joked that her son will have some ideas.
A West Warwick man also won $22,500 on a Keno Plus ticket. He stopped at Moe's Convenience Store at 71 Tiogue Ave., West Warwick to pick up a seven spot Quick Pick ticket. All seven numbers came up, winning the standard payout of $4,500. However, he also doubled his wager to add the Plus feature, so when the five multiplier came out, his prize increased to $22,500.
One of the two $10,000 winning PowerBall® tickets from the August 11 drawing was claimed by a group of 14 Newport Housing Authority employees. Both tickets were sold from Stop & Shop at 1360 West Main Rd., Middletown, but the group says they only have one of the lucky tickets. After the prize was split amongst the 14 players and taxes were taken out, they each walked away with just under $500. They have been playing together for the last 15 years and will continue to try for the big jackpots.
