$10,000 Birthday Surprise

The $10,000 winning ticket from Friday's Mega Millions® drawing was just claimed by William Wiegand (photo attached) of Woonsocket.  The ticket matched four numbers and the Mega Ball® number.  The standard payout for this type of win is $10,000.  If he had chosen to play the Megaplier® option for an additional $1, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by 4 to equal $40,000.

William turned 78 years old yesterday and said this was a very nice present.  He plans to donate some of his money to a senior center in Woonsocket that he often goes to. He purchased the winning ticket at Gulf Express at 852 Park Avenue also in Woonsocket. The employees there are like family to him and he plans to share some of his winnings with them as well.

Tuesday’s estimated Mega Millions® jackpot is $15 million.
