$1,000,000 PowerBall® Winner in Rhode Island

A $1 million winning PowerBall® ticket sold in Rhode Island for Saturday's $40 million PowerBall® drawing has been claimed by a woman from Cranston.

She purchased the ticket at Discount Liquor Shop at 1294 Park Avenue in Cranston. She typically picks her own numbers but opted for an additional Quick Pick ticket this time.  She ended up matching five numbers but not the PowerBall® number, and won the standard payout of $1,000,000 on that Quick Pick ticket!  This is the first $1,000,000 winner in Rhode Island since the game changed in January.

She has been holding on to the ticket for the long weekend and came to Lottery Headquarters with her family to claim first thing this morning. They plan to pay bills, go on a Disney Cruise, and live a simpler life.
Wednesday's estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $50 million.
