Big Holiday Wins
Three lucky Rhode Islanders had some extra cash for the holiday season!
The $25,000 winning Lucky for Life® ticket from the December 17 drawing was claimed by a couple from Plymouth, Mass. The couple said they won the prize just one day after they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Now they're considering extending the celebration and going on a vacation. The couple also plans to share some of the money with their three daughters and 8 grandchildren. However, they said they waited to cash the ticket after Christmas so they wouldn't be tempted to spend all of the money on presents. The winning ticket matched five numbers, but not the Lucky Ball number. Four Corners Food Mart, 327 Warren Ave., East Providence sold the winning ticket.
A father and son from East Providence waited months to cash in a $40,000 PowerBall® PowerPlay® ticket they had from the August 8 drawing. They said they picked their numbers based on their family members' birthdays. Even after holding on to the winning ticket for a while, they're still not sure what they'll do with the money. Colbea Enterprises, 457 Benefit St., Providence, sold the winning ticket, which matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number. The standard payout for that win is $10,000, but they added the PowerPlay® feature to their wager, which increased the prize to $40,000.
A West Warwick man had luck playing Keno Plus last Friday at Breads N Stuff, 1669 Main St., West Warwick. He played a $1 wager on a seven spot game and matched all seven numbers for a standard payout of $4,500. He opted to double his wager and purchased Keno Plus, so the $4,500 prize was multiplied by three, that draw’s Keno Plus number, to equal $13,500. He's thinking about using the money to buy himself a new car.
