Rhode Island Puts the "Mega" in Mega Millions®
$1,000,000; $250,000 and $10,000 Winners
Last night's $74 million Mega Millions® drawing turned out to be a big one in Rhode Island resulting in prizes of $1,000,000, $250,000, and $10,000.
Two of the tickets matched five numbers for the $250,000 win. One of the winners purchased the Megaplier® feature for an extra dollar on the wager, which automatically turned the $250,000 prize into $1,000,000.
Stop & Shop at 70 Mendon Road in Cumberland sold the $1,000,000 winning ticket, and Shaw's Supermarket at 160 Old Tower Hill Road in Wakefield sold the $250,000 winning ticket. Both tickets remain unclaimed.
Additionally, another ticket matched four numbers and the Mega Ball® number. The standard payout for this type of win is $10,000. The winner did not purchase the Megaplier® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If the player had opted for Megaplier®, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by two, last night's Megaplier® number, to equal $20,000.
The $10,000 winning ticket was sold at Nayco Stores, 198 Front St., Lincoln. It remains unclaimed.
Friday's estimated Mega Millions® jackpot is $83 million.
