Since 1994, over 150 students majoring in Communications at local colleges and universities have gained valuable career experiences by hosting the televised Daily Numbers drawings.
The Rhode Island Lottery’s daily Numbers Game, which started in 1976, became the first Rhode Island Lottery game that allowed players to select their own numbers, hoping to match the randomly selected numbers on balls drawn from plexiglass containers.

Drawings are locally televised live on WPRI-TV 12 at 6:59 p.m. Monday – Saturday, and at 6:29 p.m. on Sundays. Wagers can be placed at Lottery Retailers until 6:50 p.m. Monday – Saturday and 6:20 p.m. on Sundays.
Players may wager .50, $1, $2 or $5 on the chance that the 2 to 4 digits they select will be drawn in a particular straight or box order.
In order to win 4-digit wager, you must match all 4 digits drawn.
In order to win 3-digit wager, you must match first 3 or last 3 drawn, depending on your specified wager.
The Rhode Island Lottery reserves the right to limit the amount of betting on any series of numbers on any given day to maintain the financial integrity of The Numbers Game.
Game: Choose the Game type on The Numbers Game play slip by selecting the digits to play (4-Digit, 3-Digit, or Back-3). 2-Digit (front-2 only) can also be played by your retailer at the Lottery terminal.
When completing the play slip, place heavy vertical marks in the appropriate boxes. DO NOT ERASE. Use one board for each set of numbers to be played.
Bet Type: Choose the Bet Type (Straight (Str), Box or Combo) by marking the appropriate box on each board. Combo bets, which are straight and box, cost twice the dollar amount of the single wager.
Amount: Select the Amount to play for each board ($.50, $1, or $5). $2 plays are also available, but your plays must be entered through the Lottery terminal by your Lottery retailer.
Pick Your Numbers: Choose digits based on the Game type that you selected. 4-Digit - Choose one digit in each column. 3-Digit - Choose one digit for each of the first three columns. Leave the last column unselected. Back-3- Leave the first column unselected and choose digits in the last three columns only.
Weekly Play : By marking the “Weekly” option on a play slip, the wagers selected on all boards of the play slip will be made for seven consecutive drawings. The cost of all of your boards combined will be multiplied by seven.
Instant Match: Is a special feature of The Numbers Game offering the chance to win up to $500 instantly on a Numbers Game ticket for an additional $1 per wager.
To play Instant Match, complete the play slip for The Numbers Game and select the Instant Match option in the yellow area of the play slip. The Lottery terminal will automatically select an additional set of Instant Match numbers, which will appear on the ticket below The Numbers Game numbers.
All Instant Match numbers are automatically selected by the computer and printed on the ticket. The winner determination process is random.
How to Win Instant Match: If any of the numbers from the Instant Match game match the numbers selected for the Daily Numbers game, or the Bonus “$” sign appears, the player wins the amount shown to the right of the matched number / symbol.
Your Instant Match winning ticket can be cashed immediately and an exchange ticket will be issued for The Numbers Game drawing.
Example: At right is an illustration of an Instant Match win. A "5" was played for the Numbers Game, and an Instant Match number "5" was also chosen by the computer. They matched and resulted in a $50 Instant Win! Remember, order does not matter, you just have to match numbers.
Extended Play option: To play the same numbers and wager on The Numbers Game for 30, 60 or 90 consecutive drawings, use the Extended Play play slip to select numbers and wager options, as well as the number of consecutive days to be played.
Extended Play tickets become active with the first drawing following the Extended Play ticket purchase. Instant Match is not available on Extended Play tickets.
Once completed the play slip is presented to the Lottery Retailer and the ticket is printed, it is the player’s responsibility to immediately check that the numbers and wagering selected and the ticket issued are what was requested. Players are advised to sign the back of the ticket for security. All winning tickets are payable to the bearer of the ticket upon verification of their identification and signature. The Rhode Island Lottery and Lottery Retailers are not responsible for lost or stolen tickets or those incorrectly issued that are not reported to the Retailer immediately after purchase.

Be sure to sign your ticket upon purchase. Prizes of $599 or less can be claimed at any Rhode Island Lottery retailer. Prizes over $599 must be claimed at Lottery Headquarters, 1425 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, Rhode Island 02920. All prizes must be claimed within one year of the drawing date.
