What are the Lottery’s Hours of Operation?
The Rhode Island Lottery’s business hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
If I have trouble operating my Lottery terminal, is there a Help Desk or other resource that can help me out?
For any questions on Rhode Island Lottery Terminal operations or troubleshooting, call the GTECH Hotline at 1.800.322.3334. This telephone number is also listed on page 1 of the Retailer Monthly newsletter.
I get customers of all ages in my convenience store, asking to buy Lottery tickets. I don’t want to get in trouble with the Lottery or with the police for violating state law. What is the legal age to purchase or redeem Rhode Island Lottery tickets?
State law mandates that you must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, play and/or redeem games offered by the Rhode Island Lottery. It is the responsibility of Lottery Retailers to verify the age of their Lottery customers.
How long can a customer hold a winning Rhode Island Lottery ticket before they cash it in?
Instant Tickets expire one (1) year from announced end date. On-line games expire one (1) year from draw date. Announced end dates for Instant Ticket games are distributed to Lottery Retailers for public view, and can be found on the Validation End Dates page of this website, which is under Instant Games.
My Lottery terminal jammed, causing the ticket to misprint. Can I get credit for this damaged ticket?
Credit may be given on damaged or misprinted tickets at the discretion of the Rhode Island Lottery under certain circumstances. If you experience a jammed terminal or misprinted ticket, immediately:
1) Reprint the ticket by pressing the yellow REPRINT button, then press 1.
2) Call the GTECH Hotline (1.800.322.3334) to report the misprint, supplying them with your retailer ID number, description of problem, and any other requested information they may need. Follow the instructions given to you by the operator and your credit request will be considered.
PowerBall and Instant Match tickets cannot be canceled. All other misprinted tickets, including Keno and Rhody Poker, should be voided prior to the draw.
My business is up for sale. Can my Lottery inventory and license be included in the terms of the sale?
No. You must notify the Rhode Island Lottery of the sale of your business so that we may settle your account and terminate your license. Licenses to become a Lottery Retailer are issued based on a set of criteria surrounding the business and the licensee. THE LOTTERY LICENSE, EQUIPMENT AND TICKETS ARE NEITHER PART OF YOUR INVENTORY NOR YOUR BUSINESS’S PROPERTY. The buyer may apply to transfer the license, however, and its issuance will depend on several factors.
There have been times when my Instant Ticket inventory is running low, and my Lottery Sales Representative is not scheduled to visit my place of business for several days. How can I replenish my stock before they run out?
You never have to run out of Instant Tickets. If you see that you’ll run out of tickets before your next Sales Representative visit, simply call 1.888.375.8222; and the Rhode Island Lottery will prepare a supply for you to pick up, or we’ll deliver them to your Retailer location.
