PowerBall® Jackpot at $425 Million for Tonight's Draw
Game's Third Highest
$40,000 PowerBall® PowerPlay® Ticket Claimed
The nationwide rush to buy tickets for tonight's $425 million PowerBall® drawing, the game's third highest jackpot, is on. The game's record jackpot is $590.5 million. It was won by a player in Florida in May.
In addition to the jackpot, there are eight prize levels ranging from $4 to $1 million and from $12 to $2 million with PowerPlay®. For an extra $1, players can add PowerPlay® to their wager. PowerPlay® is a feature that multiplies non-jackpot prizes with an automatic prize of $2 million for matching the five white balls. Players must add the PowerPlay® option to their PowerBall® play slips or tell the retailer that they wish to purchase a PowerBall® ticket with PowerPlay®.
A $40,000 winning PowerBall® PowerPlay® ticket from the August 3 drawing has been claimed by seventeen Rhode Island co-workers. One of them is going to Vegas soon and hopes his good luck carries over to when he's there! He was certainly glad he was a part of the office pool. They purchased the winning ticket at Hess Express, 346 Providence St., West Warwick.
The Rhode Island Lottery encourages everyone to "Play Responsibly," especially when jackpots reach such high levels.
PowerBall® is played in 45 U.S. lotteries. PowerBall® jackpots start at $40 million and roll until won. Jackpots are won by matching the five white ball numbers (1-59) and the red PowerBall® number (1-35). The overall odds of winning a PowerBall® prize are approximately 1 in 31.8.
PowerBall® drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. Tickets can be purchased until 9:50 p.m. in Rhode Island on drawing nights. Visit our PowerBall® page for more information.
