$110,797 Wild Money Jackpot Hit
The $110,797 jackpot for Rhode Island's own progressive jackpot game, Wild Money, was hit Saturday night.
A Cranston man came in first thing this morning to claim the prize. He said the "computer helped him out" since he played a Quick Pick and let the computer randomly generate his numbers rather than pick them himself. Stop & Shop at 204 Garfield Ave., Cranston, sold the winning ticket. The winner said he plans on putting the money in the bank, although his family recommended he get a new car.
The Wild Money drawings take place three times a week: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights, live on WPRI-TV at 7:29pm.
Tuesday's estimated Wild Money jackpot is $20,000.
Another Cranston store proved lucky for Chris Merolla. This Cranston man thought he only won $20 on a "Lucky Times 20" Instant Ticket that he bought from Rite Aid at 548 Dyer Ave., Cranston. However, when the store clerk gave him back the ticket and said he needed to go to the Lottery, Merolla realized he overlooked three more zeroes and really won $20,000. He plans to use the money to go to school to become a Medical Assistant.
