* The 5/5 prize increases to $2 million with PowerPlay® regardless of the multiplier number drawn.
Rhode Island was one of the founding members of the Multi-State Lottery Association which established the Lotto America game in 1987. This multi-state game became PowerBall® in 1992. On January 15, 2012, the PowerBall® game was improved, and went from $1 to $2 per play to create more millionaires, bigger starting jackpots, bigger rolls, and better odds of winning!
PowerBall® PowerPlay® has become one of the most popular Lottery games due to its extremely high jackpots. The highest jackpot amount to date was $590.5 million on May 18, 2013, won by a ticket sold in Florida.
Jackpots start at $40 million, and continue to increase by no less than $10 million per drawing until someone wins. Plus players can increase their chances of becoming a multi-millionaire by playing PowerPlay®. PowerPlay® increases all non-jackpot prizes. See prize table below. The $1,000,000 prize for matching 5/5 white balls will increase to $2,000,000 when you purchase PowerPlay®!
Drawings are at 10:59pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays and aired locally on WPRI-TV 12.
PowerBall® PowerPlay® tickets may be purchased until 9:50pm on drawing nights.
Pick Your Numbers: Each play slip has five (5) boards (Play A-E). Each board is a separate play. You may play up to five (5) sets of numbers on one (1) play slip. Choose five (5) numbers, ranging from 1 to 59, from the upper area of the play slip for each board played. Each board played costs $2 without the PowerPlay® option or $3 with the PowerPlay® option.
PowerBall® Number: Select one (1) PowerBall® number ranging from 1 to 35 in the lower play area for each board played.
Quick Pick: Mark the two (2) "QP" boxes, and the computer will draw a series of six (6) numbers for your wager. Or mark "QP" for the first five (5) numbers and choose your own PowerBall® number, or mark "QP" for the PowerBall® number and choose the first five (5) numbers yourself.
PowerPlay®: Increase your non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, or 5 with PowerPlay®. Check the "YES" box in the PowerPlay® box on the play slip to add the PowerPlay® option. The PowerPlay® option is $1 extra per board making each board $3. The $1,000,000 prize for matching 5/5 white balls will increase to $2,000,000 when you purchase PowerPlay®!
Multi Draw: The same numbers for more than one (1) drawing may be played by marking the appropriate "MULTIDRAW" box for 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 26 consecutive drawings.
